Just spent a 2 night stay here all straight forward and easy. We didn't notice the reception area on entering as it was busy due to Carboot but a guy came round and checked us in an gave us the codes to the gates. Great location shops, takeaway, chippy and cash machine just over a mile down the road. Loads of space kids had a great time. Access to the river and couple of pubs with beer gardens. We went to thorpe park on our stay which is about 20 mins from the site. The toilet black was clean showers clean no issues. We will definitely be returning.
Car boot place is amazing. Sure you need to find the good weekend and good time.
Once you there the parking is £2.
You can really find anything you want at car boot.
The place has toilets. They are clean and safe to use.
The food stalls are ok if your hungry. Decent food and prices.
It is well organised. Worth the trip.
Always great to chill in a field on a warm day, a short distance from the marina. Walton is a gem.
First visit and not one I’ll be in a hurry to repeat. From the interminable tailbacks on the way in, to the pandemonium of trying to get off the site, in the rain, with no visible marshalls, no signs and a growing sea of angry drivers - it was an evening I’d rather forget.
Inside the site were a couple of tiny fairground rides and a mass of queues. Queues for the bar (the only place to buy any kind of cold drink, soft or otherwise), queues for candy floss, queues for donuts and then queues for each of the four hot food counters. Picked the shortest and hoped for the best, but by the time we got to the front the main menu item (pulled pork) was off.
Then, icing on the cake, a queue to get a hot drink (the bar queue being too long).
The fireworks were perfectly nice. I think maybe there was music, but we couldn’t hear it. By the time the show ended we were still queuing for drinks.
And then we faced the sad traipse back across the mud to the car and the chaos of trying to leave, just as the heavens opened.
A basic campsite, nice shower and toilet block however drinking water wasn't quite so easy to find and no one else on the site seemed to know either, otherwise a nice pit stop place close to loads of attractions.
I would recommend if you're like us and enjoy spacious camping, use a small tent and bring a gazebo as they charge for larger tents even with a small occupancy but don't charge for gazebos as we noticed during our visit.
Attended the fireworks display at Apps Court this evening. Words fail me to describe how poor the experience was. Traffic jams approaching the site were so bad that it took an hour to drive less than three miles because of their refusal to open more than one gate for cars to enter. Upon arrival, everyone (thousands of people) were kettled into one area, where the sorely inadequate facilities meant that what few food and drink stalls there were, manned mostly by clueless teenagers, had queues that would make the most hardened event-goer weep. I queued for an hour for food (the shortest of the queues), only to discover nothing suitable for children and no drinks available. £30 later, for 2 soggy pulled pork burgers and 2 portions of foul chips, I embark upon an even longer queue to try to get hot drinks for the children. By the time I am handed my drinks, the fireworks are over and the stampede for the gate has begun. The few marshals that were vaguely present on our arrival disappear into the mist and as the driving rain starts, the disorganised chaos of thousands of vehicles skidding haphazardly towards the badly signed exits finally breaks my spirit. £80 poorer and vowing never to return, I leave this review as a warning to others. Stay away from this fireworks event if you value your sanity...
Visit on Bank Holiday 2nd of May, not so many traders but very pleasant, good quality items for sale. Best to go on Sunday
25.09.22, really good, lots and lots of traders, interesting variety of articles. Thank you.
Fireworks display!!! Absolutely disappointed.
Got there at 6 o’clock, just in time for what we expected to be able to walk round get some food, let the kids go on the fun fair(I have kids 12&15yrs) . Ready for the spectacular firework display at 8.
Although it was open from 4 o’clock-10 o’clock.
Great long walk up the entrance excited and laughable as already the floor was like a mud slide at a ‘Glastonbury ‘ ( inevitable because the rain and weather we have had)
Finally at the QR ticket scanning. Hungry and excited to see the other side a sea of people no music started to feel like a trapped herd of cattle. Headed for the food stands ques we’re over a hour long, £10 for a burger, (no much bigger then you would put on your own bbq ) waiting in the que for ten minutes , to hear one stall had ran out of food saying they have been open since 4. 🤷♀️.3-4 food stalls a face painting stall and candy floss and donut stall.
Ok with no joy with food we still wanted to enjoy our evening, we looked for the funfair 😳 which consists of tea cups and a caterpillar ride……… this is very misleading from what they stated was rides for all the family. Unless you have children all under 8 and the rest of the family are under 4 foot. This Could have be ok with the two rides.
Rain came slightly. But distracted us as the fireworks started promptly on the dot. 8 clock.
Music was non existent couldn’t hear it at all. (Stood near their under cover viewing tent with no sides) Just with the crapped crowds around couldn’t hear the music and people were speaking at normal volume. Few drab fireworks and it was over at 8.13. Then there was a massive rush for everyone to leave…. There was nothing there to offer anyone to stay no entertainment, no fun fair, no food music nothing.
The stampede of crowds leaving was a slippery slide back to the car to unorganised crazy mess. Cars slipping all over the place, sure some other cars would have got a few small collisions . To be charged on your ticket £2 for parking to be told by the workers it’s free .Liberties that’s what that night was….. pure money grabbing.
Else where for my family next year!
